Let's talk about it - questions! stories! etc! I'll start with a question... possibly a touchy subject, but parents of small children/toddlers -- what do you do for discipline? We have recently implemented timeouts with my 20 month old -- mostly for standing/being wild on the couch (he keeps falling off - ugh). I'm not 100% sure he gets it -- he sits wherever we put him until we tell him timeout is all done (1.5-2mins). The whole process is very unemotional for everyone involved -- We make sure not to display frustration or anger, just matter-of-factness with a brief explanation that he's going to timeout and why. He doesn't even seem to mind -- but it does seem to be helping to at least redirect his attention as he usually goes and plays somewhere else besides the couch after a timeout. Anyone have any tips, success stories, etc?
